KUALA LUMPUR, 30 AUGUST 2018 – Ministry of Education (MoE) and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) today announced the return of #mydigitalmaker Fair 2018. To be held on the 29th - 30th September at Axiata Arena, Bukit Jalil, the Fair is designed to provide students, teachers and parents a hands-on digital experience by featuring activities such as robotics, drone-making and racing, 3D printing, career talks and digital-based competitions. The #mydigitalmaker Fair 2018 is part of the #mydigitalmaker Movement, an initiative to prepare the next generation for the future of work.
The Movement was established to address the nation’s need to equip our young with the skillsets and mindset that will help them excel in jobs of a digital world. Through public-private-academia partnership, the #mydigitalmaker Movement aims to transform Malaysian youth from being users of digital technology to digital producers.
“The start of any change is through education. We at MoE believe that by empowering our young with knowledge, they are able to not only embrace digital technology but also contribute to the growth of it. Malaysia wants to see the youth become producers and makers of the digital world; the first step is to equip them with the right skills and thinking approach. #mydigitalmaker Movement has made it possible for Malaysian youth to be exposed to the wonders of digital world. MoE is committed to futureproofing our students through the integration of digital technology into the national school curriculum,” said Dato’ Sulaiman Wak, Deputy Director-General, Education Policy and Development of MoE.
The #mydigitalmaker Movement focuses on exposing the younger generation to digital creativity and innovation by integrating computer science and computational thinking into the formal school curriculum, as well as via after school programmes. The Movement, launched in August 2016, focuses on skills such as coding, app development, 3D printing, robotics, embedded programming and data analytics; all of which will help strengthen problem solving and creativity amongst our future generation.

Our youths will be the generation that can drive Malaysia to greater heights and education is the way to make that happen,” said Datuk Yasmin Mahmood, CEO of MDEC. “Nurturing digital heroes is not a one-person’s responsibility; it is all of ours. Hence the public-private-academia partnership is key in bringing-to-life the ecosystem that will achieve a digital nation” she added.
At the same event, Engage Media was announced as the official event partner while Astro as the official media partner of #mydigitalmaker Fair 2018. The Fair is made possible through the support of industry partners such as ADV Fusionex Sdn Bhd, Digi Telecommunications, Microsoft Malaysia Sdn Bhd, Shell Malaysia, and Yayasan Sime Darby.

#mydigitalmaker Fair is a manifestation of the #mydigitalmaker Movement where it brings to life the ecosystem by bringing industry players, academicians and the relevant government ministry under one roof. Designed for students, teachers and families, the two-day event provides hands-on experience to digital making. annual event provides hands-on experience. The first Fair was held on 16th and 17th September 2017 at Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre. The event witnessed approximately 20,000 visitors and it was a huge success
