FAQ FOR EXPATS

If your Nature of Business as per the Companies Commission of Malaysia printout relates to any activities in Information, Communication and Technology (ICT), you should submit your application directly to MDEC.

The Government has appointed Multimedia Development Corporation Sdn Bhd (MDEC) to accept, process, review and approve/reject applications from ICT sector companies. Companies can apply online at http://www.expats.com.my/ict or visit eXpats Service Centre directly:

Positions that enable a foreign knowledge worker to take up employment under a contract service with an organization involved in ICT sector in Malaysia

The minimum salary is RM5,000.00

There is no minimum age requirement

Any countries whose citizens are allowed to work in Malaysia are eligible to apply EP.

This is to validate and ensure that the documents are genuine.

The turnaround time after submission in e-Xpats System, with all required documents, is five (5) working days. However, company is required to register with eXpats Service Centre before application can be submitted

The turnaround time after your registration in e-Xpats System, with all required documents, is three (3) working days. If further clarification is required, the registration processing time will probably take longer.

You will receive a notification via email and eXpats Service Centre will courier our Facilitation Package to your business address.

You can appeal by submitting an official letter to eXpats Service Centre. It will take three (3) working days or more for eXpats Service Centre to process your appeal, depending on the complexity of the case.

Once the approval has been issued, you may proceed to any Immigration Department branch which has an Employment Pass Division (DP11) for the endorsement of passport. Please refer Immigration Department’s website.

The validity is three (3) months.

You can appeal by submitting an official letter to eXpats Service Centre. It will take two working weeks or more for eXpats Service Centre to process your appeal, depending on the complexity of the case. You can only appeal once and our decision is final.

Please proceed to Immigration Department for cancellation purposes.
